How to Turn Off WordPress Emoticons
Emoticons. Some people love them, some people hate them. Personally, I love a good bit of emoji for iOS or Android, but I find the WordPress style emoticons a bit too old-school and over the top, so I always turn them off whenever I start a new blog or develop a site for a client.
It may seem like a little thing, but it can really make a difference to the tone of your blog. If you prefer your smiley faces looking like this: :) :( :P ;) than this: here’s how you can turn them off.
Go to Settings > Writing from the left hand menu. You’ll see this at the top:
Just make sure that first box is unticked and your smileys will remain as text. Simple! :)
