Weekly tips for new and established self-hosted WordPress users from Sarah, a WordPress website developer. Every first Wednesday of the month I recommend a plugin that I like. If you’re using a self hosted WordPress install, plugins are a really useful way of adjusting and adding to the functionality of your site – either from the front end or the back end. So what did I pick this month?
Plugin of the month: CommentLuv
Our plugin of the month for July is CommentLuv! :) We use it here on Bonjour Blogger – if you’ve ever left us a comment you might have noticed it! :)
In a nutshell, CommentLuv automatically fetches the details of your latest blog post and puts a link to it underneath your comment. It’s unobtrusive which we like, but shares a little more blog love around the internet which we’re also fans of!
If you leave a comment then you’ll usually be leaving a link to your site at the same time automatically, but CommentLuv is that little bit more enticing for people as you can draw people in with your blog post names, too :) Plus you’re effectively getting two links for the price of one and no-one can argue with that.
It comes with a few different style options so you can customise it for your site – if you really want it to match your branding you can also upload a custom image. Handy!
Let me know if you think CommentLuv is a useful plugin! :)
