The current trend in blogger photos are to have a marble background. Sure, you could use a real marble background, but who has the money for that? This little DIY cost us less than £5 and took 5 minutes. It’s quick and easy to do – all you need is a roll of sticky back plastic (yes, that of Blue Peter fame) and a piece of poster board – we picked up a pack of 5 in A2 size for about £3 from our local craft shop.
Measure out the amount of sticky back plastic that you need. You’ll want there to be a slight overhang on all sides – this roll was the perfect width, so it just needed one cut to get the right side.
Turn the plastic over, peel off one part of it, and position your board. Peel off the backing section by section, and use a credit card to smooth out any lumps and bumps along the way. If you act quickly, you can unpeel the plastic from the board carefully if it really gets messed up!
Once the plastic is on the board, cut off the corners. When you fold in the edges, this will make for a much neater look (even though no one else will see it, it’s still nice to do!)
Fold up the sides – starting in the middle of the board is easier to smooth out any bubbles along the edge. Flip over the board, and you’re done! Get photographing!
You can buy marble sticky back plastic from Amazon♦ or eBay♦ online, but it’s much cheaper if you can get to Wilko. You don’t have to go for marble either – there are tons of different patterns available!
Great post! I loved the marble idea and gave it a try myself! A quick and cheap alternative. I have mentioned you in my latest post!
