Last week, Instagram announced that users could now list their pronouns in their bio without taking up any of that precious space – you just have to click the edit profile button and tap where it says pronouns, where you can choose up to four different items.
The only downside that we’ve seen to this so far is that you’re unable to choose your own pronouns and they’re all in English, which excludes anyone who doesn’t speak English (or doesn’t speak it as a first language) who would prefer to use pronouns in their language,
It’s a great move and one we’d love to see from other social media platforms like Twitter – listing pronouns in your profile is a simple way to let others know how you like to be referred to.
