The Verge reported this week that Instagram is currently testing out allowing users to access their direct messages from any browser. This is something that can be really useful for bloggers and influencers since many of us will receive lots of messages and sometimes you just don’t want to type out long responses on your phone.
As mentioned in the Verge article, Facebook have been placing greater emphasis on messaging – of course, we all know about their Messenger app but there’s also apps like WhatsApp and Threads.
However, if you are not currently in this trial, there are other ways to access your direct messages on your desktop. Apps like Flume allow you to access your DM’s if you’re on a Mac, but the easiest solution which allows you to access all of your different accounts at once is to connect your Instagram account to your Facebook page. From there, you can get access to your direct messages as well as seeing any comments made on your Instagram account, and if you’ve got more than one IG account, you’ll find this super useful to be able to quickly respond to messages without having to switch accounts all the time.
