Most bloggers will start their blog on their own, but sometimes, a blog with a friend or two can also be just as much fun! Group blogging can be great
One of the reasons you might want to collaborate with someone else on your blog is to show a different side. Depending on what sort of blog you’re looking to create, different tastes is an awesome thing to show – if you’re creating a fashion site, then showing two different styles is going to be interesting for the reader, especially if you work together to show how you would style the same item in different ways. If you’re creating a food blog, then you’ll be able to give different opinions on the same venue, at the same time or separately. Beauty bloggers could show how a lipstick works on different colouring, for example
Another reason to work with a friend on your blog is to spread the workload. We all know how much time and effort blogging can take, so working with someone else helps to split that into more manageable pieces.
A few things to remember when you decide to create your joint blog –
- How will the reader know who is writing?
Will you use different coloured fonts for each author, or have signatures at the end of each post? Whatever you do, keep it consistent - Try to keep to a routine
As with any blog, keeping to a set routine is useful for you and the reader, but it’s especially important with a group blog. Regular features can be especially useful. - Talk to each other!
Perhaps this sounds really obvious, but you need to be constantly talking to each other to make sure that you’re not going to duplicate content or post at the same time. Use things like shared spreadsheets in Google Docs to co-ordinate your schedules and content plans.
If you do decide to create a team blog, then you can find out how to add more authors to your new blog here – for Blogger, WordPress.com, self hosted WordPress and Tumblr.
Which are your favourite group blogs?
Great post! My friend and I started our book blog together and it has been so much fun being able to bounce ideas off each other, attend events together, and come up with fun posts.
Love She and Hem of course! :)
They were the main inspiration for me and my sister to team up for my travel blog: saintsonaplane.com
Feel more confident to embark on it and get a bit more serious about it :)
Go team!
I run a blog with my friend Jon. I live in Australia and he lives in America. We email each other all the time about our lives and we discuss the direction of our blog. We mostly blog about our lives, goals and book reviews. As we’re so different we have a lot of variety to our blog posts.
