The best photo for a blog post will always be one you’ve taken yourself, but sometimes, it’s just not possible to get the photo you want. Here are three sites that have images that you can use for your blog – remember to always read any terms and conditions that they have!
Unsplash.com is a Tumblr account where 10 new photos are posted every 10 days, available to everyone to do what they want to them (under a Creative Commons zero licence). They have links to the photographer under each image, so it’s always a nice thing to credit them if you do use their image.
Death to the Stock Photo will email you monthly with new photos – when you sign up at the moment, you’ll be given a link to a set of photos that are based in a cafe. This pack might not be perfect for your blog, but the regular updates mean you’ll soon build a collection that might be useful. They say you don’t need to credit them, but a shout out is always nice!
Love From Ginger is a beautiful crafty blog with a section of free stock photos available (there’s also this category on her blog with more recent photos) – they appear to be photos taken when she’s taken others for her blog, so this might be something you could consider doing as well – take a few extras when you’re taking some still lifes, and pop them in a Tumblr or a separate section of your blog.
Do you know of any other free stock images like these? Let us know!
Great post with some very useful information. I found another great one a few months ago with some really good stuff. You have to register to use it but they have images from the latest campaigns of retailers like John Lewis. I have found quite a few fashion related images on there so definitely worth having a look at. Go to PRShots.com
Thank you for this!! I always have so many problems finding photos for my blog but always want to keep it legal. It can be SO time-consuming to find the right image so it goods to have a selection of sites bookmarked – adding these to mine now!
Thanks so much for this post – I am always looking for good pics for the blog and am trying to get better at not just using pics I have found on pinterest!
This is a brilliant set of useful sites.
