If you’ve been around since Bonjour, Blogger! started, then you’ll probably know that for the first 18 months or so, the site was updated at least 6 times a week on average. Towards the end of last year, there was a quiet spell, and we relaunched in the new year with posts 4 times a week.
Daily posting is good if you have the time, motivation and inspiration. It’s a great way to build up your content but it can be quite a drain. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t do it, but it’s not for everyone – real life can get in the way.
It’s important to plan carefully what you want to do and when – that’s true for any blogger really, but especially so when you’re publishing more often. Keeping a notebook with you all the time can help with planning and with making notes for future posts so you don’t run out of things to say. Doing this makes it a lot easier to find something to post about!
Scheduling is also a super important part of daily posting – not just your blog posts, but your social media – we use Buffer to keep old blog posts tweeting.
So is daily posting for you? It’s up to you really, but don’t beat yourself up if you post less – your time can be spent more effectively to drive traffic to your site! Try it out for a month and see whether it can fit in with the rest of your life.
