How To Get Stuff Done

Maybe one of your new year blog resolutions (blogolutions?) was to get yourself more organised with your blog – but it’s easier said than done. Here are a few tips for you to try to keep your promises to yourself…

Scheduling and planning ahead is your friend

Settling down once or twice a week to write a few posts means that you can spend more time working on other stuff (better photos? more social media promotion?). Scheduling your blog posts is a great way to get around the panic some people have about getting a post up on specific days, but if you can’t manage that, just planning out what you want to write about, or future ideas will really help you get through those “arrrgh what shall I post about” panics!

Cut out the distractions

Whether it’s something simple like using the sounds of a coffee shop or more drastic like blocking your internet access for a set period, getting rid of the distractions can help you get stuff done. We can’t be the only ones who open up a new blog post, only to get distracted checking Twitter, Facebook, ASOS… you get the idea.

Write down everything…yeah, even that one

Keep a notebook with you at all times, or a notepad app on your phone (we love OneNote!) – if you write down all of the ideas you have then you’ll rarely be stuck for ideas again. Even if it seems totally silly, write it down anyway, because you might be able to develop it into something else.

Relax!

You work a 9-5 job, or you study late, and you’re still trying to fit in a few hours of blogging a week? You need to make sure you take time to relax to recharge your brain, so get up, leave the laptop and go for a walk or bake a cake or something!
