You may have seen (if you’re in the EU) these notices appear on Blogspot hosted blogs this week…
In your Blogger dashboard, there’s a sign saying this:
But what does it mean? In the EU, websites must tell the user that their site gathers information from them in the form of cookies and other forms of local storage. In most cases, the user must give authority to the site to do that.
Google are forcing all users to comply with this ruling by setting the banner above as a default feature on Blogger hosted blogs. It’s possible to disable the notice, but you must replace it with something similar. You can find out more information about what to replace the plugin with on the cookiechoices.org site by Google.
If you’re a WordPress user, then we’re using a plugin called Cookie Law Info which does the job pretty well!
