What is your blog about?
My blog is my creative oasis. I post everything from fashion, beauty, lifestyle, DIY, Recipes, Tech, Fitness, etc.. I wanted ‘Tragic Wardrobe’ to be a place where any girl can come and have something to relate to. I feel like my interests are all over the place, and that seems to really benefit my viewers!
Is this your first blog?
Yes, this is my first blog however I feel like “Tragic Wardrobe” is on it’s second blogging journey. I had started blogging late 2013, and in July 2014, I decided to delete everything and start fresh. It was a very risky move, but I wasn’t really proud of anything I had created. My whole heart wasn’t in blogging until recently. Now every post is written, and edited with passion and I could not be more happy!
When did you start your current blog?
As I had said in the previous question, I started my blog late 2013 in October. However, I feel like I didn’t really start “Tragic Wardrobe” until July when I decided to take things more seriously!
What made you do it?
Digifest had came to Toronto in October and I decided to go for my birthday. The community, and atmosphere there was amazing. Seeing everyones reactions to these youtubers/bloggers was crazy, and I knew right there and then that I wanted to be apart of this too. I went home that night and bought the domain “TragicWardrobe”.
What was your first blog post about?
My first blog post was actually about the Digifest tour, and how inspired I had got from it. It was almost like a note to myself, saying “I can do this!”. This blog post isn’t currently available to the public anymore, since I decided to start fresh!
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
INSTAGRAM! I have had a few people ask how I am growing my following, and all I can say is Instagram. It is such a great way to network! Hashtags are a great way to find local bloggers. Don’t be afraid to follow someone on instagram and leave comments, you never know – maybe you’ll become great friends and go for coffee often!
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
Yes – I used to be so shy to talk about my blog. There would be friends who had found me online, and made fun of it a little bit. About a month into blogging, I realized I really enjoyed doing it and I didn’t care what anyone thought about it. This is my passion, and I fully embrace my blog now. I even tell random strangers about it at the coffee shop!
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
I’m really proud of all my DIY’s, they take so much time to do and I always get a great response to them! I’m excited for this upcoming season, and thanksgiving so I can post more awesome DIY’s and even some Recipes!
Where do you see your blog in a year?
I really want to expand my blog onto youtube, and I hope I’ll have some videos being released soon! I have so many ideas I want to do, and just grow my blog more and more each day. Hopefully my blog will have a larger audience in a year, and I’ll be able to network with even more wonderful people!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
I wish I knew how much of my life I was putting out there on the internet. I didn’t realize that ACTUAL people were going to be reading my blog, and looking at my instagram. I started getting friend requests on facebook, and follows on twitter. I wasn’t really prepared to have my life fully out there. I hadn’t gone through my facebook and deleted pictures that weren’t suitable. My twitter had been my account since early highschool, and I knew it wasn’t professional enough to have on my blog. One tip I advise anyone wanting to get into the blogging world, make sure your personal accounts are private, or you really go through them and delete things you wouldn’t want people to see (pictures of the front of your house, licence plate numbers, etc..)
What do you wish you know more about now?
I wish I knew more about designing/coding blog themes, I am so amazed at how tech savvy some of these girls are! I always have graphic design ideas in my head, but to actually put these ideas to work is something I wish I knew how to do! Feel free to send me an e-mail and give me some lessons girls! Ha-Ha
How do you keep motivated to post?
I am very organized when it comes to my blog. I have a white board calendar beside my desk that I write blog ideas for certain days. I also have a list of “blog ideas” on my computers for those days I just feel uninspired. Pinterest and reading other girls blogs really keep me motivated and I always get so much creative inspiration and want to start blogging right away!
Anything else you’d like to add?
