What is your blog about?
I started my blog Blaber Blogger as a travel and lifestyle blog, but now I as well blog about entertainment, social media, fashion and review movies, music and books too. I don’t keep my blog limited to a particular niche so I blog about things which I am particularly interested in. I am quite glad that my followers and readers have been loving that as well.
Is this your first blog?
This isn’t my first blog as such as I have been blogging for a while but now I am focusing on this one only and hoping I get to reach out to a lot of people.
When did you start your current blog?
I started with this blog way back in 2010 but haven’t been much active until recently. This year 2015, I have been really active and the blog has become really popular and successful.
What made you do it?
I was always passionate about writing and loved sharing my opinions and thoughts with people. Being a total internet junkie, I discovered that there are so many platforms online where I could speak my heart out by writing. I started out as content writer for third party websites and then soon began to write for my own blog Blaber Blogger about 5 years ago and that’s how it all started.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
To be a great speaker, one needs to master the art of listening and from my experience, to be a great blogger, one needs to read a lot of blogs as well. Not only do blogs give you information, advice and knowledge but it is really great to get ideas, inspirations and also built a good rapport with fellow bloggers by socializing with them. Using social media to share information, meeting people, talking to them and building a good following would be really amazing and one just needs to be honest, friendly and active and everything would come up with the flow. I would suggest bloggers to use as a lot of social sites and be active on them and also share your blog posts on social sites but also making sure, not spamming them with just your contents.
Blogging is great but as a blogger, one also needs to remember that you have a life other than just blogging. So what I do is I have some time for blogging but rest of the time, I just go and live my life and do the things I love, whether it be just eating my favorite meal at a restaurant with my friends, or watching movie or reading a book or just trying to learn and experience something new. That in turn would be a great inspiration for blogging. You would be amazed that once you live living life fully, your life itself would be an amazing and continuous source for ideas for blogging.
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
Yes it has helped me. I have blogged a lot about my travels and visits to restaurants and hotels. Being a hotel professional, I have never talked about my blog in job interviews but yes I have talked about it at work and my seniors and managers have taken a look at it and appreciated it. Likewise, I have been given a lot of work opportunities as well due to blogging.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
I have written a lot of blog posts promoting tourism about my hometown Darjeeling, which has got a lot of views and comments and people have loved it. I have also written posts based on social issues which has received a lot of feedbacks and traffic and it feels really good to see people appreciating my works.
Where do you see your blog in a year?
In a year, I would like to see my blog, with double the amount of contents that it has right now and triple the amount of followers I have today. I know this may sound really big but I really plan to do it. I know I may not land up doing exactly what I have planned and it is hard, but even if I reach close to it, it would be quite an achievement for my blog.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
When I started a blog, I knew nothing about SEO, designing templates, optimizing with friendly layouts, social sharing buttons and HTML. Had I know those things, I believe my blog would have been in a much higher level. But no regrets, I got to learn it step by step facing failures and that’s what made me a better blogger I guess.
What do you wish you know more about now?
I guess now I know more about my audience and what kind of blog posts do they like and work well for my blog. I have had this connection with my readers and I understand and know what to write now. The ideas for blog posts just comes and I no longer have to spend hours thinking about what to blog next.
How do you keep motivated to post?
Blogging is something I love doing. Some people get pleasure dancing or singing and blogging does that to me. It’s more about being passionate about and loving it and when you actually do, it just comes out naturally.
I guess the constant support, feedback and readership I get from my readers is what keeps me motivated. It feels so good and motivational when people from around the world can listen to your words and appreciate it which keeps me wanting to post more and more.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I suppose you did cover quite a lot about me and my blog so I would really like to thank you for this excellent opportunity to be interview and featured in your site. The world is big and this interview would really help me get connected to a lot of readers so now I am really quite excited.
