What is your blog about? A lifestyle blog from a punk rock loving (fake) Londoner, with lots of beauty, fashion, food and adventures.
Is this your first blog? Not at all! Since the age of about 15 I’ve always had some kind of internet site, from a Buffy The Vampire Slayer fansite, through to film and music review blogs.
When did you start your current blog? think think think It was in December 2011!
What made you do it? I’d been reading a few other blogs and wanted my own place to share little bits of my life. Inspired by the likes of Gem Fatale and Lily Melrose, I decided to start putting my words and pictures out there in one cohesive place. I also wanted to be able to look back over the things I’d done, and in essence – I just love creating content!
What was your first blog post about? What I got for Christmas that year! It was actually quite fun to go back to the post and remember what I got – quite a few things I wear and use to this day!
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? TWITTER! I’ve definitely found my readership using Twitter hashtags and chats, as well as getting to know lots of other lovely bloggers too.
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? I do tend to mention it in interviews – whether they’ve read it or not is another question! I think some interviewers will appreciate the work that goes into it, although I’m not sure it’s been a HUGE reason I’ve wrangled interviews/jobs – it’s probably made me a slightly more interesting candidate though!
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of? I wrote a post on coping with rejection, which probably means the most to me as it’s something I experienced a lot in 2014. Even now, if I face rejection, I’ll go back to it and it lifts my spirits and will hopefully.
Where do you see your blog in a year? Continuing to be awesome, obviously. I’d just like to keep creating great content, and building on the small but fantastic readership I already have!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? How obsessive I’d get over tweaking layouts and how HUGE blogging would become.
What do you wish you know more about now? SEO – I’m learning, but it’s tough!
How do you keep motivated to post? I don’t usually find it hard to find motivation – if I have an idea, it just tends to fire itself out through my fingers to the keyboard. Having said that, I’ve taken a few breaks – looking back over old posts I’m proud of often spurs me on though.
