What is your blog about? Generally my posts feature the outfits I wear every day to work and out at the weekend. I also post about exciting things I have bought and the places I have been.
Is this your first blog? Yes.
When did you start your current blog? October 2009, very nearly four years ago!
What made you do it? I was reading a lot of blogs and I found it very inspiring and wanted a little corner of the internet for my own so my housemate (Danni) and I decided to start a blog too…
What was your first blog post about? It was a little introduction to the two of us and about how excited we were to be blogging! (http://www.frillsnspills.com/2009/10/start-of-something-exciting.html)
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? My boyfriend is very useful (I am one of those bloggers lucky enough to have a boyfriend who knows one end of a camera from another!) but Twitter has been the most useful and fun tool since I started blogging.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Yes. All of my friends and family know about the blog and even my work colleagues do! I got unpaid work experience thanks to Frills ‘n’ Spills a couple of years which led to me getting my current role in marketing.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? Although I love all of my posts, the posts I have written about diabetes and depression have a particular resonance for me (http://www.frillsnspills.com/2010/01/day-of-black-dog.html). Blogging has given me a platform and a community to share both the highs and the lows with and I couldn’t be prouder of these posts…
Where do you see your blog in a year? When I first started blogging I went on a lot of day trips and I wrote a lot more lifestyle posts. Both of these have fallen by the wayside recently but I would love to bring them back.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? I wish I knew just how long it would take to shoot the photos and then write up a post, it takes a lot longer to write about a pretty dress than you realise!
What do you wish you know about now? I would love to know more about HTML, it’s on my list of things to learn! Then I could take more control of the look and feel of my blog.
How do you keep motivated to post? I try and write posts when I am feeling inspired and schedule them in when I am particularly busy but if I’m really not feeling it, I just take a break – there’s nothing worse than uninspired posts, you can easily tell if a blogger is unenthusiastic about something!
Anything else you’d like to add? Write about things that you love and TALK TO PEOPLE, I have met some of the nicest people I know through blogging, next time there is an event on locally, why not go along?
