What is your blog about? Being Little is a bit of everything that I love – clothes, art, food, adventures.. it’s mostly about the things that I get up to and want to share with the world!
Is this your first blog? No, I’ve had a couple before this one, although they were just teenage rants and such.
When did you start your current blog? August 2010
What made you do it? The previous blog I had wasn’t going anywhere, it had no real direction. It was basically a complete mess. I’d got into reading more blogs (mainly fashion and art based ones) and wanted to create something similar, but with a personal feel. I wanted to find like-minded people to chat to as well, as I was quite unwell at the time and often felt pretty isolated!
What was your first blog post about? My first two posts were about some books I was making for an exhibition I was involved with, called Beyond The Sea.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? Having a good eye, editing skills and being able to spell most things correctly helps a lot. And Twitter is brilliant for interacting with other bloggers and brands.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Yes!
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? Before I started Being Little, I was pretty unwell and had no real hope for a future career. I’ve gradually gained more focus, skills and respect throughout the past few years, and telling people in “real life” about my blog has definitely opened a few doors for me.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? This is a tough one, as I’ve been extremely lucky to work with some great brands and people. Being shortlisted for a Cosmo Blog Award is up there, along with helping to organise and host blogger meets and events in Bristol along with some lovely ladies! I think the thing I’m most proud of is speaking out about my struggles with mental and physical health, and the overwhelming response that I get whenever I mention it. It’s crazy to think that I’ve actually helped people who are having a rough time!
Where do you see your blog in a year? Hopefully a little bigger and better, but with the same core feel.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? I guess I wish I’d read into it a little more before I started, but at the same time I’ve loved watching Being Little grow and evolve in its own time.
What do you wish you know about now? I wish I knew more coding (although I’m too impatient to learn) and more about the business side of things. I’m getting there, slowly..
How do you keep motivated to post? I actually find it really difficult sometimes. I get tired extremely easily, and this makes everything else harder. I usually keep a list of things I want to blog about, and look back at it regularly. It’s also great to read other blogs, or just to have a little wander around your neighbourhood to get you feeling inspired.
this is a great idea! I love reading these and learning about other bloggers!
