Age 26

Blog URL girlycopyright.com
What is your blog about? My blog is dedicated to all things girly. I like to talk about primarily hair and beauty related things along with the odd lifestyle and cat related posts too!
Is this your first blog? This is my first personal blog, but I have had experience in writing blog posts in my previous roles.
When did you start your current blog? January 2014
What made you do it? I have always wanted to have my own personal space on the internet for a while, and I decided in January that I was actually going to do it rather than talking about it. I even found a Timehop from when I was 21 (5 years ago) saying “must start a blog today”. After 5 years, I eventually got around to doing it.
I think my main reason for wanting to start a blog, is I enjoyed the idea of being able to write and share posts with people. Not that I think I am in anywhere a born writer, but it is nice having that creative outlet.
What was your first blog post about? Hahaha! It was an awkward introduction to me, and I think I posted about the fact my parents got me alpaca socks for Christmas.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? I would say that plugins are one of my most useful tools. As a WordPress user, I have access to all the different variety of plugins, which is cool as I have ones have help cache my page, and ones to assist me out in the SEO department too!
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? If no, why? Do you purposefully keep it a secret? Yes it has! At first, I was really apprehensive it to put my URL on the CV, as I know people would look at it and judge it – but after a while, I started to not mind so much people knowing about it. And it really helped show my understanding of the blogger community for my current role which is in digital marketing.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of? I think I am just proud of my blog as a whole. I have met lots of new blogger friends since I created it, have had some pretty awesome opportunities with companies and it also helped assist me in getting the job I am currently in today – not too bad for a side hobby!
Where do you see your blog in a year? It will be there at girlycopyright.com. I don’t expect to have 10,000 of traffic per day, but I will still be hanging out talking about my latest hair extensions or taking lots of photos of my cats – you know the usual!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? How important it would be to have a nice camera to take pretty images. As I look back at some of my posts, and I think my iPhone just does not cut it.
What do you wish you know more about now? I would like to fully understand the functionality of my camera more, so I can take good images.
How do you keep motivated to post? Oh god, the struggle, there are days where I am like omg I hate blogs, I hate blogging, why did I buy this stupid domain?
I take breaks away from the internet frequently and only post things I actually like writing about. As I don’t want to produce forced content.
It took me a while to finally realise you don’t have to post everyday to be an awesome blogger.
Anything else you’d like to add? Thank you for this interview opportunity and if you are a blogger yourself – enjoy your blogger journey! :)
