What is your blog about? Just about my life really! It’s evolved as I’ve grown and gained new interests and hobbies so you can expect anything from recipe posts, posts about running, interior design, outfit posts and everything in between. I’d class it as a lifestyle blog.
Is this your first blog? Yes, although I did spend many of my formative years on LiveJournal and the communities there.
When did you start your current blog? in 2008 which is a bit scary.
What made you do it? I posted a lot on communities in LiveJournal and wanted an outlet for photos, recipes and outfits that was more public and didn’t contain my teenage angst ramblings. A blog seemed like the next logical step!
What was your first blog post about? It was about music – thankfully not too cringeworthy!
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? I like using buffer app to schedule tweets and then see how many people click on the links, it’s useful to gauge what time of tweets are best to engage with people. And of course twitter.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Yes
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? I’m not sure…a few people in work probably know about it we don’t really talk about it. My experience of using twitter helped develop our work twitter over the last few months though and we have gained about 800 new followers since I helped.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? I was really proud to have my home included in Ikea Family magazine. I blogged about our house redecoration a lot with before and afters and it was picked up by ikea magazine as we have so much ikea! Seeing my home in a real magazine couldn’t have happened without my blog.
Where do you see your blog in a year? I don’t know. Hopefully picking back up after this year being a very quiet year! I have recently got married and this year also saw me start my first management job, so real life has been prioritised over blogging. Now I’m more settled though I hope to document my first year of married life through the blog.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? That it’s weird to people not on the internet that you take photos of yourself to show strangers on the internet and that you can’t eat food without photographing it first.
What do you wish you know about now? More technical bits of html and coding!
How do you keep motivated to post? It’s difficult, as this year has probably been my least motivated year! I am getting back into it now by just enjoying documenting things and having this online journal to look back on. I think that is the best thing about blogging for me, especially as I have been blogging for 5 years which has encompassed me graduating from uni, getting engaged, buying a house and getting married. It’s like a little time capsule!
