What is your blog about?
Caramel Latte Kiss is about fashion, food, feminism and everything in between. I write about little things from my life, in my quest to find happiness in the small things and keep them all documented.
Lifestyle is a great category for me. It means my blog can cover all the different parts of my life, from the classic blogger outfit posts and events, to the less classic cosplay and science-fiction conventions!
Is this your first blog?
Yes and no. I’ve dabbled about in different versions of blogging with Ye Olde LiveJournal (whatever happened to LiveJournal), and I was on Tumblr before I was a blogger. Caramel Latte Kiss is my first ‘real’ blog though.
When did you start your current blog?
2010. Wow, that seems like ages ago!
What made you do it?
I started reading blogs when I was at University. I stumbled into fashion blogs by mistake and soon had a heaving blog roll. After a while of reading, I was obsessed and wanted in. I started my own blog to join the blogosphere and hone my writing skills.
What was your first blog post about?
My first post was about seeing Marina and the Diamonds in Cardiff. I don’t cover music very often these days, but I did review that gig.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
I recently moved from Blogger to self-hosted WordPress. The difference it’s made to the look, the usability and the content of my blog is incredible. I am mad for plug-ins and always looking for new ones. I honestly don’t know why I was so scared of the move. I’d never go back now.
Do people in your real life know about your blog?
Yes
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
It has! My blog is on my CV, and has come up in the interview for both my current and previous job. Despite the fact I work in Social Media, my only training is entirely from my own blog. I’m self-taught, but it seems to be enough!
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
In 2013, I was shortlisted for the Bath in Fashion South-West Blogger’s Award (I was living there at the time). The shortlist of ten had some incredible bloggers in it, and it was such an honour to be alongside them.
Where do you see your blog in a year?
Caramel Latte Kiss is going to get bigger. In the long-term, I’d love to blog full-time, so in a year’s time, I’ll be working towards that, with quality content, more connections and more working alongside brands. I’m going big!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
I wish I’d started on WordPress. The quality of my blog is so much higher now.
What do you wish you know more about now?
I’d like to learn web design and clever things in that line so I can build my own gorgeous design for my blog. I’d also like to improve my photography skills so my blog looks prettier!
How do you keep motivated to post?
I honestly enjoy the process of writing posts. I don’t need motivation, just the time to do it!
