What is your blog about?
Bits and pieces, although predominantly thoughts, because I do a lot of thinking. I guess it is about me growing and learning, and not always being right, but having fun anyway. I also do some DIY posts and posts about books, because I read far too much. And anything else that takes my fancy, because why not? :)
Is this your first blog?
Yes. I haven’t really had any online presence before this.
When did you start your current blog?
In June of 2013.
What made you do it?
I had always looked at A Cup of Jo over my mum’s shoulder and thought how awesome it was that she could write stuff and people would read it and comment on it. I had always loved writing, but had never really had anyone to share it with, so this seemed perfect. It also coincided with us using blogger for school, which made the whole idea seem less daunting because I knew how blogger worked.
What was your first blog post about?
The rain. I know, it’s odd, but I didn’t really know what to do for a ‘first’ post, so I avoided it by writing the first post as if it wasn’t the first post, if that makes any sense.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
Everyone always says twitter for this, but no one that I know (in “real life”) uses it, so the whole idea is just so foreign to me. My most useful tool is probably my laptop, I haven’t had one until recently and it is so much easier having photos and post drafts and everything all in one place.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Meh. I’ve told my family and a few friends, but none of them really get it because they don’t read blogs.
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? I don’t have a career, I’m still in high school! :)
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of?
Gosh, I really don’t know. I suppose how my photography has improved with blogging, I didn’t take many pictures before I started blogging, but now I take loads!
Where do you see your blog in a year?
Rambling on, with better pictures, and better writing. Just bigger and better really!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
That a picture is better with less editing than more. And to make the picture fill the post area, small photos are not good.
What do you wish you know about now?
Everything, just everything.
How do you keep motivated to post?
By only posting when I’m motivated. I don’t have a schedule, which works for me, and I usually post about once a week.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Thank-you for the interview, and if there are any kiwi bloggers reading this, say hi, I’d love to “meet” you!
So nice to see young bloggers! :)
