What is your blog about?
The World According to Charlotte Coster is a lifestyle blog that literally includes everything. There are articles about me and my life, there are tips for university students, reviews, topical pieces, travel pieces….it literally has something for everyone.
Is this your first blog?
Yes, this is the first blog I started up. I did have a fashion blog for around a year as well, but I closed that a short while ago due to lack of time and now incorporate some fashion posts into my lifestyle blog instead.
When did you start your current blog?
I started The World According to Charlotte Coster in summer 2012 between my second and third year of university.
What made you do it?
Originally I started blogging because I was thinking of going into journalism and thought it would be useful to have an online portfolio of my writing. But my passion for blogging soon took over and now I just love it, in it’s own right. I love the community feel that blogging has and the range of blogs that are out there.
What was your first blog post about?
I did the standard introductory post, saying hi to everyone and what I wanted to achieve within my blog. And then I did a couple of posts about the Olympics.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
Your camera. Whatever that type might be. It’s so important to add lovely, attractive photos to your posts, to entice others to read it.
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
I always write about my blog in job applications because it shows commitment, organisation, writing skills, social media skills etc etc. I can’t tell you whether it’s actually helped my career, but it certainly hasn’t hindered it.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
Just the fact that it is still going three years later and I continue to update it regularly. I love doing it and the passion is still there, and whenever I see that it is being read or anyone gives me some feedback, I am so so happy.
Where do you see your blog in a year?
Well, I have a secret little expansion of my blog which will hopefully be well underway by this time next year. And I just would love it to continue to grow and continue to get readers. That’s all I want for it.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
How supportive other bloggers are of each other. It was a long time before I started interacting with and meeting other bloggers and I always love it when I do. Wish I had done it from the beginning.
What do you wish you know more about now?
I want to improve my photography and start uploading higher quality pictures into my blog. Any help/advice/chat about cameras would be so appreciated.
How do you keep motivated to post?
I don’t really know the answer to that. It’s just that I have so much to say and this is my area where I can say what I want. So I may as well use it.
