What is your blog about?
My blog is basically my diary. I write whatever tickles my fancy. From makeup, fashion and lifestyle all the way to travel.
Is this your first blog?
No! This isn’t my first blog, I have started up blogs numerous times. But hello ‘delete blog’ button. I have been blogging for nearly a year now on this blog and there is still so much to learn and so much to do that I still feel that I am just really getting started.
When did you start your current blog?
I started my blog back in June 2014. Not long ago I know but after all the other blogs I’ve started, I’ve probably been blogging for nearly 5 years. But the other ones aren’t around anymore!
What made you do it?
Starting a proper blog was something I had wanted to do for an extremely long time. When I started my current blog, I had just finished college and found myself with a lot of time on my hands. Enough time to start a blog. I design it myself and my first post went up and the rest was history as they say!
What was your first blog post about?
My first post was a little review of a skincare item I had just bought. I kind of skipped over the whole ‘introduction’ post and went straight in at the deep end! I just wanted to get straight into it, I didn’t want to waste time telling people things about my boring life.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
My Emma Bridgewater diary is incredibly useful and keeps me extremely organised. It has a week by week layout but also a lined piece of paper for notes next to it so I can jot down any ideas and what I want to do for my posts the next week.
I also have found photoshop very handy if lighting isn’t so good (which it isn’t in the UK!)
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
I don’t tend to announce to everyone that I have a blog, just if it comes up in conversation. I think that it has helped my career as it shows that I am able to manage my time efficiently. Running a blog whilst working/at university full time is incredibly hard!
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
I have been really proud of my photos that go into my blog posts. I did photography at A-Level and still life was never one of my strong points, I usually chose to avoid it like the plague and do portraiture/fashion shots. So I love that I have been able to extend my skills into still life!
Where do you see your blog in a year?
Hopefully,I’ll be able to get my blog out there so that different brands/ readers can have the opportunity to work with/get to know me. I get so excited when people get in touch! I smile from ear to ear and have been known to do a little dance!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
HTML. I guess that is what everyone says though. I just got so lost trying to figure out how to make a professional looking template for myself. In the end I gave in a bought one. But I would love to know how HTML works!
What do you wish you know more about now?
Again, HTML! Besides that, I wish I knew how people actually found my blog to begin with. I wrote a post and then suddenly people found it! Magic!
How do you keep motivated to post?
I stay motivated through the pure enjoyment that comes with blogging. If I have an idea, I want to harness it – make it perfect so I can share it. I love every step, the thrill that comes with pressing ‘Publish’, editing my pictures to how I want, everything!
Anything else you’d like to add?
Urmm not really! Just that I enjoy blogging so much and will hopefully l keep going like forever!
