What is your blog about?
It is a real mix! I like to think of it as a true life blog. Sometimes I will focus on fashion and beauty then other times I will be inspired to write a post about relationship advice or a funny look on Disney. It’s all about the experiences and sometimes you feel like writing a more serious post and my blog is about accepting each idea as it comes.
Is this your first blog?
Yes!
When did you start your current blog?
It was pretty much exactly a year ago! I can’t believe how quickly that has gone!
What made you do it?
I had been reading blogs and watching youtubers for ages and it was something I knew I would love but I kept convincing myself not to do it. Then one day I realised life was too short and it could be the best thing I ever do, so I took the plunge. It’s the best place to just be creative and I feel as though its a space on the internet just for me!
What was your first blog post about?
My first post was called ‘A little bit personal’ and it was a short collection of my thoughts and who I thought I was. I think a little introduction to yourself and the blog is a nice way to start.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
Twitter, or bloglovin, I can’t decide! Both are so useful for keeping up with other bloggers which I think is the most important part of blogging; the community! Reading and supporting others is the most rewarding part, I think.
Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
I am definitely selective in who I choose to tell. If the job I apply for is media or journalism associated then generally, I include a link because I think it shows off your passion. I think you have to be careful though, especially if you, like me, have opinionated posts, because you never know who you might offend. But if your blog is true to yourself, I am sure an employer appreciates looking at your hard work and getting an idea of who you are outside of work.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
I have a couple that I’ve really put everything into that will always be special to me yet won’t necessarily be popular with readers. I went to my first blogger event the other week, a fashion show, and that was a proud moment for me because it made me remember how far I had come.
Where do you see your blog in a year?
I’m hoping to continue growing it and feature better pictures. For me, it was never about getting awards or anything, I just want people to read and enjoy it. So, even if I’ve gained only 10 more followers this time next year, I will still be dancing around my house with happiness!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
I always thought it was solely about content and while that is so important, most of blogging is about connecting, promoting and creating posts that will grab peoples attention.
What do you wish you know more about now?
Blogging communities!
How do you keep motivated to post?
There will always be blips, especially if you work full time so the key is not to feel too guilty or feel too much pressure. I try to always schedule it in to my week so I have a set time for it.
Anything else you’d like to add?
If you are thinking about making a blog, the best way is to just do it! Get writing and find your feet as you go. I promise, you will not regret it.
