When blogging started out, it was about personal stories. What you did that day, what silly funny things happened, even just random snapshots of your day. As blogs and bloggers have grown, blogs have become less chatty, and more magazine style. That’s not necessarily a bad thing – things evolve, and bloggers have developed their own voice while talking about products and other things they’ve done.
But perhaps we’re seeing a return to the chatty style of blogging as readers want things to go back to “how things were” – where you just open up a new blog post and write about what’s going on in your life or what you’re thinking or your opinion on a recent news story.
Why would you want to be more conversational on your blog? It’s a great way for the reader to get to know you better which makes them want to read more from you. It’s also a way to keep posting when you don’t have any idea on what to post. Just write!
What do you think? Is it time for the chatty blog to make a comeback?
I try to keep a chatty tone to my blog, partly because otherwise it would just be photos and technical info, but mostly because that’s what I look for in other blogs I read. I love feeling like I’m getting to know someone through their blog :-)
I really hope so! I love personal blog posts and get bored of so many blogs looking so similar and producing similar content.
