Snapchat has been around since September 2011, but it’s only in the last six months or so that the blogging communities have been picking up on it as a way of sharing snaps from their everyday life.
As Instagram accounts become more and more curated to project the image of the perfect life, bloggers are looking for somewhere to be more “real” and authentic. Snapchat allows users to filter who is seeing a post – you can have things open to everyone who follows you (the Snap Story is available to anyone who follows you), or just send a pic or a video to your friends.
Snapchat can be a more effective form of sharing content because it’s not just fun and easy, but it also helps that not that many people are really using it that much at the moment, so your messages aren’t lost in the noise of other posts. It’s like getting a sneaky peak behind the scenes of your favourite blogs and feels more personal than an Instagram post.
A recent update to Snapchat brought in emojis to show who is your sbff (Snapchat BFF, of course) – Newsbeat has all the details if you want to know more.
Snapchat is looking like it will be the next big social media network. Do you use Snapchat as another form of social media for your blog? Share your usernames in the comments!
Your in my head I literally said yesterday ‘why is everyone on a snapchat hype?’
