Instagram is such a popular social network, and as with any social media network, it’s nice to receive comments and likes. Sometimes it feels difficult to attract new followers, but by following any of these tips, you’ll be giving your account a boost!
- Use the best quality photos
Some people might think it’s cheating to use a photo that you’ve taken with a “proper” camera, but if that concerns you, then look at phones with excellent cameras – we love the Samsung Galaxy S6 for the camera feature! Even with an older phone though, you can still get high quality photos – try to take your pictures in natural light. - Use social media
Yes, Instagram is a social media network, but if you share your pictures on your Twitter accounts and Facebook, then more people won’t just see your photo and like it, but they may also end up following you! Since Twitter doesn’t allow for native images to be posted when you share directly from Instagram, make sure to check out this tutorial about how to get your Instagram pictures showing on Twitter. - Use hashtags
…but try not to go overboard. Even if you just use #nofilter, you’ll be able to see lots more likes appear on your pictures (although if you use the hashtag on a filtered picture, you could end up on Filter Fakers!). Iconosquare can be useful to find popular hashtags, as well as Tags For Likes. If you don’t want to include all the hashtags in your caption, then they still work if you include them in a comment. Take advantage of that by posting your list of hashtags as a comment a few hours after your original post! - Show your face!
According to a report conducted by Georgia Tech, Instagram posts with faces in gained on average an increase of 38% in likes. We like to see other people, so don’t be shy and post that selfie!
