If you’re thinking about changing your blog name, then it’s useful to find out where else that name is registered before you make the switch. NameChk is a free service which allows you to look up across tons of different sites. Just type the name you want in the chk box at the top of the screen…
…and see what happens!
It’s not quite as up to date as you’d want (Instagram isn’t on the list for some reason!) and there are a few false positives (Usually with services like Posterous, which closed down in April 2013 after Twitter bought it out) but it’s still a huge time saver for the main networks that you’re going to want to register for (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
